My History with Saab

My history with Saab started back in 2006, when I bought my first Saab at the age of 22. It was a lovely Saab 9-5 2.0t lpt. Since then, I’ve had several Saabs: 9000 2.0i, 9000 CS 2.0t, 9000 CS 2.3T, 9000 Aero 2.0T, Saab 9-3 SS Vector Sport 1.9TiD and a Saab 9-5 Aero.

My last 1:1 Saab model was a Saab 9000 Aero but at the time, I don´t own any other Saab.

How I started collecting Saab model cars

Firstly, I became a real Saab car owner, when I bought my first 9-5. Then, a couple of months later, I saw on ebay a Hongwell Cararama 9-5 1:43 model, it looked very similar to mine and it was very cheap, so I decided to buy it! When I received it, I realized that the quality wasn’t as good as I expected. Consequently I tried to find one with better quality. After some research I found a Minichamps Model, the difference by looking at the picture, seemed to be huge, but the price was also higher and besides that, I decided to bought a 900 on a auction for less than 15€, it was a well known model, a Minichamps Saab 900 Talladega, at that time, I didn’t know it was a “record car” and suddenly I needed to check all the story of them starting with 9000 models. It was supposed to be a 9-5 but because of the low auction price, I bought the 900.
After these first models, I continued to buy more Saab 1:43  models.

Purpose of My Saab Diecast

Passing the years, my collection started to grow and I never bothered to check how many models I had, but now, with so many models, I decided to create an Archive/Catalog with the models I own. I know some world top Saab model car collectors, but for sure, I’m not one of those collectors. Maybe I can place myself as one of the greatest Saab diecast collectors in Portugal.
